Bayer (Germany)

Despite a
portfolio of hundreds of other products, Bayer is still best known as the company that developed the mother of all
pharmaceuticals, Aspirin, just over 100 years ago. Aspirin remains
one of its top-selling products today, part of a wide portfolio of products
ranging from polyurethane to flea control sprays,
and from antibiotics to vitamins. In recent years the group's massive size
proved more of a liability than an asset and it has restructured into a
collection of smaller and more efficient operating units, each of which has the
potential to be split off as an independent business. Advertising
Age estimated global measured advertising expenditure of $570m in 2006, making
Bayer the world's #55 advertiser. Click
