Bertelsmann DirectGroup

Bertelsmann DirectGroup
is one of Europe and Asia's leading retailers of books, reaching customers through a network of direct mail
services, clubs and retail outlets in 23 countries. Its brands include Der Club,
Book Club Associates, France Loisirs and Circulo de Lectores. In 2007, the business was split into two separate divisions, and
management of DirectGroup's US-based services were transferred to Bertelsmann's
publishing subsidiary, Random House. Later in the year, however, the group was
said to be considering the sale of all its book, music and video clubs
except the heritage business in Germany, and the reporting structure of
Direct Group North America was redirected back to Bertelsmann's CFO in
2008. The business was sold in July 2008 to investment fund Najafi
Companies. Click here
