Scholz & Friends (Germany)

Scholz
& Friends is Germany's biggest independent marketing services group,
managing a portfolio of different agencies spread across Europe including the
German arm of the Lowe network. During the
1980s, Scholz was acquired by Bates Worldwide, and it was subsequently groomed
to become a second advertising brand within the Cordiant
portfolio. In 2001, Scholz merged with UVE, a publicly quoted production company specialising in live
entertainment programming for television and the internet. The resulting business,
still controlled by Cordiant,
was Germany's first publicly
quoted advertising and marketing communications group. Financial
problems within Cordiant led Scholz to regain its independence
in 2003, and the business is now privately owned once more. Advertising
Age ranked Scholz' parent group Commarco as the #32 worldwide ad organisation in
2007 with revenues of $172m. Click
