Wella (Germany)

Wella is one of the world's leading professional haircare brands. It was acquired in 2003, along with a portfolio of other haircare and fragrance products, by Procter & Gamble, consolidating the US giant's position as the undisputed #1 in global haircare. However the process of integrating Wella Group into P&G has been slow and complicated, not least because of the refusal by some minority shareholders to sell out. As a result the group remains a separate legal entity, only majority-owned by Procter & Gamble. It has taken over control of Clairol's professional haircare operations outside the US, as well as management of P&G's other fragrance licenses, now grouped as P&G Prestige Products.
