Havas Media / MPG

Global network MPG
(or Media Planning Group) was created in 1999
from the merger between Havas's
Mediapolis and SFM agencies with independent Spanish company Media Planning.
Operating mainly in Western Europe and the Americas, it overtook both of
Interpublic's media networks in 2006 to become the worldwide #8 (according to RECMA). The network has long been perceived as a potential
partner for another media agency. Plans to merge with UK-based CIA
Medianetwork were abandoned in 2001 when the British company was snapped up by WPP
instead, and subsequent attempts to strike some form of equity-based
relationship with independent Carat have been blocked repeatedly by the
latter's shareholders. In any event, MPG's performance has improved since 2005,
and umbrella brand Havas
Media was launched at the end of 2006 to house MPG and its
other satellite units. Click here to find out
