Clairol: Brand Profile

Clairol is
one of the world's leading hair care
brands, known internationally for hair colouring products such as Nice
'n Easy, Miss Clairol, Loving Care and Ultress. Once the global #1 in this
market, it lost its crown to L'Oreal at the end of the 1990s, but is now
fighting back. In 2001 Procter
& Gamble paid just under $5bn to acquire the business
from Bristol-Myers Squibb. At the time, it was the biggest ever acquisition
for P&G, but gave the American company a head start in the hair colouring
sector in its international rivalry with L'Oreal. Click
