Electronic Data Systems (US)

Electronic Data Systems, known as EDS, is a leading global technology services company. It effectively founded the concept of outsourcing IT infrastructure in the 1960s and is now the world #2 in that market (behind IBM), serving corporations and governments in 60 countries. Less nimble than rivals such as IBM or Accenture, EDS has struggled in recent years to maintain its share of the sector which it created, and it remains heavily reliant on governmental contracts as well as key client General Motors. In 2008, it announced details of a deal to be acquired by HP for around $14bn. Click here for an Adbrands Profile of EDS (subscribers only).
