The Home Depot (US)

Home Depot is the second-largest retail group in the US by sales (behind Wal-Mart), and #4 worldwide. It is also far and away the world's biggest home improvement store. Each of its massive stores in North America stocks up to 40,000 different kinds of building materials, home improvement supplies and lawn and garden products, catering to professionals as well as amateur DIY-ers. However the slowing housing market in the US was reflected in disappointing financial performance in 2007, including the first fall in comparable annual sales in the company's history. Despite its size, Home Depot has been slow to move outside its home country, although it has operations in Canada, Mexico, and now China. It has often been highlighted as a potential bidder for Europe's DIY giant Kingfisher. Click here to access the Adbrands profile (subscribers only); or subscribe to Adbrands.net here.
