For the time time
being IAC (or InterActive Corporation) is one of the the world's biggest interactive
groups, the corporate umbrella for a number of well-known
brands operating via cable
television or the internet, including the Home Shopping Network (HSN), global
ticket agency Ticketmaster, dating service Match.com, Lending Tree, and
search engine Ask.com. In 2007, however, IAC announced plans to break itself up
into five separate companies, continuing a process which began in 2005 when it spun off its
collection of travel-related businesses into a standalone unit, Expedia
Inc. Despite a legal challenge from shareholder John Malone, that
