L'Oreal USA

Although it is now
one of L'Oreal's biggest global
businesses, the company's US subsidiary has developed comparatively recently,
the product of rapid and aggressive expansion since the 1980s under group CEO
Lindsay Owen-Jones. Only part of that expansion has been through acquisition.
Most purchases have been in the niche or professional sector, with the notable
exception of Maybelline New York, the
market-leading cosmetics business acquired in 1996. Click
