Time Warner
Cable is the second largest cable operator in the US (behind Comcast),
and now the largest business within Time Warner
as a whole. Following a
complex series of transactions in 2007 during which the business absorbed some
of the assets of failed rival Adelphia, Time Warner Cable was established as a
separate company, and part of its equity was issued to the public. Time Warner is
expected to spin off the physical cable division as a completely separate
